From outside one will always triumphantly impress theories upon the world and then fall straight into the ditch one has dug, but only from inside will one keep oneself and the world quiet and true. /FK (Contact: TBONotebooks at fastmail.fm. Arab News seems to be getting in some digs at a certain unnamed "former Managing Editor" at the esteemed Saudi daily. Hmmm, I wonder who.

Former Arab News Editor Under Investigation for Pedophilia
JEDDAH, 24 July 2004 — A former Managing Editor of Arab News is currently under investigation for pedophilia and the solicitation of male minors for sex. While these alleged crimes occurred during the editor’s tenure at the paper, he has since resigned and relocated to another country.

Arab News is conducting its own internal inquiry, while a criminal investigation is being carried out by the proper authorities. Pedophilia is a crime in the Kingdom and violates the United Nations’ Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Although “Pedophilia is a crime in the Kingdom,” it’s perfectly dandy for a 64-year-old geezer to marry a 13-year-old girl. Go figure.
